I had group lessons with Bruce and then an individual. He was able to give individualised feedback to a group of 5 and help us all work on our technique simultaneously. These were by far the best lessons any of us have had. Thank you so much! – Review submitted by SurveyMonkey
3 of us had an absolutely fantastic week skiing with Bruce in Courchevel.
Our bad habits were ironed out and we skied more quickly and efficiently than ever before.
Bruce is a lovely guy – relaxed, knowledgeable and fun to ski with. He even knows how to communicate with awkward teenagers!
A few years ago my confidence was drastically knocked when I went skiing without any lessons and pushed myself too hard. It made skiing stressful and not fun. This year I booked 2 private lessons of 3 hours each to improve my confidence in skiing the steeper slopes. As soon as I met with Bruce, […]
I would just like to say Thank you for all the help you gave my daughter Orianne with her skiing on Monday , when she came down with her school. She really enjoyed the session and got an awful lot out of it. Thank you for your help and guidance
Tell us about yourself Bruce
I've always struggled to describe my personality, I feel like it depends on whether I have had my morning coffee. Because I could be swinging all the way from witty and full of banter to a borderline social hermit. But luckily, I’m a guy who has to have my routine every morning and I grab that coffee without fail, so I'm always full of chitchat and laughter. But that’s probably due to being born and raised in Essex which brings out the cheeky in me. Never a dull moment, as I do enjoy making a fool of myself, with a fair few of the laughs aimed at me It can be a tough life, but life is for laughing and it keeps me grounded and reminds me that I'm not super human, backed up by constantly reminders by my mother who thinks that I will trip myself up at some point but that hasn’t happened yet, so I'm still waiting for the ‘I told you so’ speech! That being said, I do have a serious and professional side when it comes to teaching, with a time and a place for the jokes.
Growing up I was a massive rugby fan and was lucky enough to play at some of the highest levels which allowed me to travel around the world playing in New Zealand, Australia and Japan. Going to university, I studied sports science and coaching. I then pursued a masters in Strength and Conditioning.
As a fully qualified Snow Sports Instructor
Teaching has always been a passion for me; I’ve been teaching rugby, strength and conditioning and basketball since the age of 16. Adding skiing to that list has made a real sense of success in my chosen life. I have been lucky enough to work in Australia, Italy, Switzerland and now France. As a top fully qualified Snow Sports Instructor (ISTD), registered with BASI and SIM being able to share that knowledge, experience and professionalism with my clients is a dream come true.
What about the teaching?
If I was to describe my style of teaching skiing, I would say I totally try and use the imagination and visualisation to create a level of understanding that you can get on board with. I do love the use of an acronym, it has always worked for me and it’s how I learn best. Especially when you relate an acronym to an individual you can see the light bulb moment go off in their head as they say “ohhhh yer that makes sooo much sense!!”.
There’s nothing I enjoy more than getting a nervous skier from complete fear of being on the green slopes to conquering the red runs and enjoying ripping around the mountain with no apprehension, taking on the challenge of what the mountain might throw at them.
I ski with and teach all abilities whether you’re a complete first timer or a full-time ski racer. My lessons are chilled and fun with a strong focus on getting you the most out of your time in the mountains.
Hooked on skiing
I first skied in the 3 valleys when I was 11 on a school trip and from that point on I’ve always had a fascination for the area, and after leaving university back in my early twenties I made the decision 6 years ago to make the 3 valleys my winter home.
I do enjoy skiing in my own time but I love ski touring and really getting away from the lift-accessible terrain into the back country. That for me is the top way to be skiing, walking up a mountain, away from almost everyone and earning your turns.
Skiing with kids is my kind of fun, beyond belief. If its learning about the snow craft, mountain awareness or hitting the jumps in the park and pulling off some 360s. We learn and work together and have fun in the process to make the impact of learning new skills an experience that will never be forgotten.
Private Ski Lessons for Children, Adults and Private Guiding
Private ski lessons are a great way to learn for children who either need that little bit of extra help getting started, learning at their own pace or the child who has out-grown ski-school and want to progress quickly. We will ensure that they don’t adopt bad skiing habits. Skiing with kids is our kind of fun! They will learn all about snow craft, and mountain awareness as well as the basic skills to progress. Private ski lessons for children are all about building confidence with a sense of fun and adventure before hitting the jumps in the park and pulling off some 360s!
